Hongkonger, 76, on London-bound Cathay flight injured after hand baggage falls on her head

A 76-year-old Hong Kong woman aboard a London-bound Cathay Pacific Airways flight has been injured after a piece of baggage fell from an overhead compartment and struck her head.
Police received a report at 11.22pm on Monday that the passenger sustained a head injury on the flight departing Hong Kong International Airport and bound for London Heathrow Airport.

The woman required medical help at the airport, the force said on Tuesday.

She was later transferred to North Lantau Hospital for treatment and discharged at 6.15am.

According to the Airport Authority website, flight CX255 was originally set to depart at 11.15pm on Monday, but instead took off at 12.06am on Tuesday.

A Cathay Pacific spokesman said the woman’s injury might have been caused by improperly stored items in the overhead compartment.
