Hong Kong courts have become popular tourist spots among mainland Chinese visitors, but some appear to have overlooked the law by snapping pictures inside the premises, the Post has found.
The Post found on Monday that accounts on social media platform Xiaohongshu over the past nine months had posted photos of courtrooms in the High Court and were sharing tips on how to visit such buildings and observe judicial proceedings.
One user, who posted an image of a courtroom entrance in July, shared her obsession with Hong Kong’s legal and crime dramas, and expressed an interest in visiting the High Court.

“It feels so magical to observe court proceedings in the High Court. I was watching The Other Truth the day before and I am sitting inside a court the next day,” she wrote.
She was referring to a drama broadcasted in 2011 about lawyers investigating different cases, produced by local television station TVB.

“Lawyers in reality are rather calm, unlike those in Hong Kong dramas giving declamatory speeches,” she said, recounting her observations.
