Two Hong Kong drivers have been injured and a dog has died after a collision between two cars on a road in Yuen Long.
Dashcam footage of the incident circulating online showed a car trying to slow down to avoid the canine, which was struck by a white Mercedes-Benz saloon after it swerved to the other lane of Long Tin Road. A seven-seater vehicle then slammed into the back of the Mercedes.
“The driver of the car in the front slammed on the brakes after seeing a dog but the second car could not stop in time,” a police spokesman said on Wednesday. “The two drivers suffered minor injuries and the dog died.”
The force said it received a report of the accident at 1.02pm on Tuesday. Both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Yuen Long at the time of the collision.
Both drivers were transported to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment.
The Mercedes driver, a 21-year-old woman surnamed Lam, reportedly suffered from a headache. The second motorist, a 30-year-old man surnamed Poon, suffered abrasions on his hands and legs.
