3 babywear products pose risk of injury, strangulation, warns Hong Kong customs
- Customs and Excise Department says cords on 3 product lines pose risk, advise parents ‘not to dress their babies’ with them

Hong Kong customs has warned that three models of babywear pose a potential risk of causing injury or even strangulation for wearers after safety tests were conducted on the products.
A spokesman for the Customs and Excise Department on Tuesday said: “Test results indicated that the cords of the three models of babywear can pose strangulation and injury hazards to babies.
“Parents are advised not to dress their babies with the three models of clothes to avoid incidents.”
The spokesman did not disclose the name of the brands in the department’s press statement, but shared pictures of the products.
The department said the products were flagged by a third party, prompting customs officials to conduct spot checks in various districts and buy some of the items to perform laboratory tests.
“The test results revealed that the cords near the upper chest of the three models of babywear could strangle babies and pose suffocation risks,” the spokesman said.
