The Observatory has issued the No 3 signal as Super Typhoon Yagi moves away from Hong Kong.

Described as an “extremely strong” typhoon, Yagi’s maximum sustained winds near the centre earlier reached 210km/h (130mph), according to the forecaster.

The city gradually ground to a halt, with school classes and public transport services suspended. Carriers have also cancelled flights, and the fate of a K-pop concert on Friday remains uncertain.
