Hong Kong Observatory cancels all typhoon signals as Storm Trami moves away
Local forecaster cancels No 1 typhoon signal at 12.20am on Sunday
The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled all typhoon signals early Sunday, as Severe Tropical Storm Trami moved away from the city and began to weaken.
The forecaster cancelled the No 1 typhoon signal at 12.20am on Sunday, after downgrading it from a No 3 warning at 10.20pm on Saturday.
“Tropical Cyclone Trami will linger and weaken over the coast of central Vietnam today and tomorrow. It may then turn eastward moving across the central part of the South China Sea again,” it said.
The Observatory added that the weather would be sunny for the next couple of days, with temperatures to be slightly cooler in the morning and at night.
The 11th Hong Kong Food Carnival at Kwai Chung Sports Ground and the city’s 8pm Symphony of Lights show were among the events affected by the No 3 signal. The former was set to launch on Saturday and run for nine days.
