A 63-year-old worker has died after being found unconscious on a Hong Kong road.
Police said they received a report at 2.14am on Wednesday that the non-Chinese man was found lying unconscious on Hing Fong Road in Kwai Fong.
But the Pakistani worker was certified dead at 3.13am at Yan Chai Hospital, about an hour after he was found.
An ambulance arrived at the site to provide first aid for the man before he was sent to hospital for further treatment.
A police spokesman said the worker had a history of illness but stopped short of revealing his medical condition.
A spate of serious and often fatal industrial accidents have taken place in Hong Kong recently.
More than 100 people lost their lives at work in the first 11 months of 2024, 11 of whom were at construction sites, according to labour rights advocate the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims.
A 61-year-old worker died after falling at least three metres at a construction site in Sha Tin on Friday last week. He was dismantling an I-beam on a work platform and was hit by a suspended dismantled section.
Another 58-year-old worker died after falling from a ladder while repairing an air conditioner on the rooftop of a flat on Wilson Road in Jardine’s Lookout.
