Hong Kong man hurt in electric bike hit-and-run accident while crossing road

Hong Kong police are investigating a hit-and-run case in which a man crossing a road was injured by what appeared to be an electric bike in the northwestern New Territories.

According to the force, the 50-year-old pedestrian, surnamed Tai, was hit on Saturday while crossing the road from a Light Rail stop in Tin Shui Wai on his way to Tin Chak Estate.

Tai sustained scratches on his face, hands and feet, police said.

He filed a report with police before being sent to Tin Shui Wai Hospital for treatment.

Footage circulating online shows what appears to be an electric bike hitting Tai at a pedestrian crossing, with the momentum sending him into the air before he crashes back to the ground.
