A documentary about Hong Kong’s twin panda cubs is set to hit screens next year, while two new enclosures will be built for them by 2027, Ocean Park has said on the pair’s first birthday.

The theme park in Wong Chuk Hang was buzzing with excitement on Friday morning as around 300 fans of “Jia Jia” and “De De” showed up to celebrate the cubs’ birthday.

A parade featuring inflatable pandas and slices of cake kicked off the party, while balloon twisters entertained the guests who were selected through a lucky draw.

The cubs were presented with a “birthday cake” made up of fruits, vegetables and ice, which they approached and gnawed at, playfully fighting each other to get to the treat.
