2 workers injured after 10-metre lift plunge at Hong Kong construction site

Police say they were alerted at 1.32pm about incident involving workers trapped in lift at site on Broadcast Drive in Kowloon City

Two Hong Kong construction workers suffered injuries, including a fractured leg, after a temporary lift they were using to move goods dropped about 10 metres (33 feet) on Saturday.

Police said that they received a report at 1.32pm about a pair of workers who were suspected to be trapped in a temporary lift at a construction site on Broadcast Drive in Kowloon City.

“Personnel arrived on the site after receiving the report, and firefighters rescued the injured individuals who were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment in a conscious state,” the police force said.

“After an initial investigation, it was believed that the victims were moving goods on the temporary lift when it suddenly fell from a height of about 10 metres.”

The force could not confirm whether the lift fell all the way to the ground.

According to police, one man suffered injuries to the back of his head and hands, and reported pain in his neck.
