Frost expected on Thursday as Hong Kong temperatures dip amid winter monsoon
Observatory issues frost waning at 4.30pm on Wednesday, says city will experience cold mornings through Friday

Frost may form on the ground in parts of Hong Kong’s New Territories on Thursday morning, the weather forecaster has said, after the city recorded its lowest temperature so far this winter.
The temperature on Wednesday morning fell to 10.9 degrees Celsius (51.6 degrees Fahrenheit) due to a winter monsoon.
The Hong Kong Observatory said minimum temperatures in urban areas would be around 10 to 11 degrees on Thursday, while the New Territories might be a few degrees cooler. The maximum temperature during the day was expected to climb to 17 degrees.
The frost warning was issued at 4.30pm, while a red fire danger warning earlier in the day indicated very dry conditions and an extremely high fire risk. A cold weather warning was also issued at 4.20pm.
“A dry winter monsoon will bring cold and fine weather to Guangdong persistently over the next couple of days. The temperature difference between day and night will be rather large over the region,” the Observatory said.
