Temperatures in Hong Kong fell to 12 degrees Celsius (54 Fahrenheit) on Sunday morning but the coming days are expected to be warmer, with the mercury projected to rise to 24 degrees on Friday, according to the city’s weather forecaster.

“Under the influence of the northeast monsoon, it will be cold over Guangdong today and tomorrow,” the Observatory said on Sunday.

“With the monsoon being replaced by an easterly airstream, temperatures will rise over the coast of Guangdong in the middle and latter part of the week.”

Temperatures on Sunday will range from 12 to 17 degrees, with a cold weather warning in force.
