Worker scalded by hot oil at biodiesel facility in Hong Kong
Police alerted in early hours of Sunday after man, 33, sustained burns while on duty at ASB Biodiesel facility in Tseung Kwan O

A 33-year-old worker was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Sunday after being scalded by hot oil at a biodiesel facility in Hong Kong’s Tseung Kwan O.
The man, surnamed Tsang, was performing his duties at ASB Biodiesel at 22 Chun Wang Street at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate when the accident happened.
With investment from Shanghai Partner Energy Group, ASB Biodiesel operates a specialised facility that converts waste cooking oil, acidified grease trap oil and animal fat into sustainable biodiesel.
Police were alerted at 1.23am after a colleague witnessed the accident and called for help.
The force said a preliminary investigation suggested that Tsang was accidentally splashed with hot oil while working.
He sustained burns to his left hand, left abdomen and left leg, and was transported to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.
