8 wild boars captured, put down after wandering into Hong Kong’s Wong Tai Sin
Two large boars and six smaller ones near Chuk Yuen (North) Estate captured by Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department staff

Hong Kong’s conservation authorities captured and put down eight wild boars in Wong Tai Sin on Tuesday following a report from residents.
Police said staff from the Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) tranquillised the animals – two large boars and six smaller ones – before removing them.
The force received a report at 10.07am of several wild boars near Chuk Yuen (North) Estate in Wong Tai Sin, and officers were dispatched to assess the situation.
The AFCD said it had deployed veterinarians with tranquilliser guns to sedate the wild pigs and had captured them at around 11.45am.

“In view of the threat to public safety posed by wild pigs roaming in urban areas, the captured wild pigs have been humanely dispatched,” the department said in response to queries from the South China Morning Post.
