Hong Kong police arrested a bus driver on suspicion of dangerous driving after his vehicle hit a 74-year-old man in the New Territories on Tuesday, leaving him with serious injuries.

The accident occurred shortly before 6am when the Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) double-decker, driven by the 46-year-old man, was leaving a bus terminal on Kik Yeung Road in Yuen Long.

The elderly man suffered serious head injuries and was unconscious when he was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment, according to police.

Police said the bus driver, who passed a breathalyser test, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

Officers from the New Territories North traffic unit are investigating the case.
