- Police say deceased driver’s taxi slammed into another at 10.52am at roundabout on Penny’s Bay Highway on Lantau Island
- Woman and two of her children were passengers in one of the taxis, with eight-year-old boy seriously hurt

A 71-year-old driver died and four people were injured, including a mother and two of her children, on Thursday when the taxi crashed into another near Hong Kong Disneyland.
The driver, surnamed Lee, slammed into the back of another taxi carrying the family at a roundabout on Penny’s Bay Highway on Lantau Island at 10.52am. Lee, who did not have any passengers, sustained serious injuries and lost consciousness. He was taken to North Lantau Hospital where he later died.
Police said the 35-year-old woman and the children, an eight-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, were injured. The trio and the driver were trapped in the vehicle and needed to be freed by firefighters.
The boy was injured on his abdomen and medics arranged a transfer to Princess Margaret Hospital after his condition became serious.
After an initial investigation, police said Lee failed to brake in time when he drove close to the entrance of the roundabout, crashing into the taxi ahead.
Officers from the traffic team of New Territories South district are handling the case.
