Hong Kong’s railway operator has announced that train services along three MTR lines have returned to normal after signalling issues caused delays earlier.

The MTR Corp at around 12.55pm on Thursday said it had finished repair works to fix the issue which had affected the Island, Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong lines.

Earlier in the day, the operator urged passengers looking to use the three routes to allow for more time when commuting.

An announcement about the signalling issues was made in the stations on the affected lines. The arrival times for the next trains, usually displayed on screens at the platforms, were not available.

Tai Koo MTR station was more crowded than usual at around 10am, past rush hour.

At Sheung Wan MTR station, trains were arriving at intervals of eight minutes at around 10am. Only one to two passengers hoping to take the Island line were seen waiting at the platform.

Over at Central MTR station, trains continued to arrive after two to three minutes at around 10.15am, followed by intervals of three to five minutes on the Island line at 10.30am.
