Hong Kong’s rail operator has reminded passengers to be ready for changes to train services on Sunday when a busy section of the Kwun Tong line will be suspended to allow for works in the company’s first extensive infrastructure upgrade.

There will be no services between Prince Edward, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei and Ho Man Tin stations on the line, as the busy interchanges will have tunnel equipment replaced over a 28-hour period.

The MTR Corporation said commuters should use alternative routes. Two free KMB bus services will be on offer between Yau Ma Tei and Whampoa.

Prince Edward station is expected to be very busy during the works, with crowd control measures to be implemented and passengers urged to cooperate with staff instructions and pay attention to station signage.

The MTR Corp also called on passengers to use the Tung Chung line, East Rail line and Tseung Kwan O line to get around the disruptions. Those heading to central Kowloon are advised to use the Tuen Ma line and East Rail line.
