Hong Kong’s transport was disrupted as Super Typhoon Yagi approached the city on Thursday and the No 8 signal remained in effect on Friday morning, resulting in flight cancellations and limited services on railways and buses.

1. Flights
The Airport Authority is expected to give an update on Yagi’s impact on flight schedules on Friday morning.
On Thursday, it said a total of 38 flights were cancelled, including six operated by Cathay Pacific Airways’ low-cost carrier HK Express. Destinations include Osaka, Seoul and Chiang Mai.
HK Express also axed 16 flights for Friday to and from Tokyo, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Chiang Mai, Sanya and Da Nang.
Four flights operated by Hong Kong Airlines to and from Haikou and Sanya on Friday were also cancelled.
Greater Bay Airlines said it cancelled four flights for Friday involving Tokyo and Osaka. Another two flights between Hong Kong and Manila would be delayed until Saturday.
