Twelve people were injured when a double-decker bus and a truck collided on a road in a Hong Kong residential area on Wednesday morning.

Police said the head-on crash took place on Lin Tak Road in Lam Tin at 9.27am. The drivers of both vehicles were among the injured, they added.

All of the injured were taken to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong.

Online photos show the cargo hold of the truck was ripped open after the collision, leaving items scattered across the road.

Franchised bus firm KMB said the truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction, was suspected to have lost control and hit the company’s bus as it headed along the adjacent lane.

“KMB wants to remind other drivers to drive carefully on narrow roads, so that accidents can be prevented,” it said.
