Glitches possible as new signalling system starts on Tsuen Wan line: MTR Corp
Train and platform screen doors not aligning properly at stations and automatic speed adjustments on sections of line are possible
The rail giant said the Tsuen Wan line would start using the new system from the first train on Sunday morning, while maintaining its normal schedule that day.
“During the adjustment period after the new signalling system is put into service, some isolated incidents that do not affect train safety are expected,” it said on Saturday.
The operator cited examples such as train doors not aligning perfectly with platform screen doors when trains stop at stations, or automatic speed adjustments on certain sections of the line.
“The MTR Corp will continue to closely monitor the operation of the new signalling system and make necessary adjustments to ensure smoother train operations,” it said.
The company said it had prepared comprehensive contingency plans, including deploying additional train crew and engineering staff along the line to handle issues quickly and reduce the impact on services.
