Cathay Pacific flight from India emits smoke during landing in Hong Kong
Flight from Bengaluru landed safely after smoke was seen coming from its air-conditioning system, with no injuries reported
All crew and passengers have been safely evacuated from a Cathay Pacific Airways flight from India after the aircraft was seen emitting smoke during its landing in Hong Kong.
Flight CX624 from Bengaluru landed at Hong Kong International Airport at 9.53am on Sunday after smoke was reported on board the Airbus A330.
A preliminary police investigation found the smoke originated from the overheating air-conditioning system, and it dissipated shortly after landing as the system cooled.
All passengers and crew were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported, according to the force.
The South China Morning Post has contacted Cathay Pacific and the Civil Aviation Department for comment.
In a separate incident last January, a Cathay Pacific flight from Boston reported smoke in the cockpit and cabin shortly after take-off. The aircraft later returned in accordance with standard procedures.
