A 28-year-old woman in China without forearms has been living a colourful life with confidence, amassing a large number of online followers who have been moved by her spirit.

Xu Fangyan, from southwestern China’s Sichuan province, lost her forearms after touching a high voltage transformer at the age of seven.

Xu said she remained strong-minded even right after the amputation.

She did not want to rely on her elder sister who had been helping with her daily life.

As a result, she learned to look after herself, managed to use what is left of her affected limbs to write, and returned to school within a few months.
