A restaurant in northern China hit by severe flooding has hosted 200 disaster relief workers at a complimentary candlelit dinner without electricity or water as a mark of respect for victims.

Devastating floods hit Zhuozhou in Hebei province after Typhoon Doksuri caused record rainfall that lasted for days.

According to Xinhua news, the floods affected nearly 134,000 people in the city, with one in six residents evacuated.

More than 150 civilian rescue groups across China arrived at Zhuozhou to help people trapped by the floods. One resident, surnamed Li, told Jimu News that the water rose so fast they did not have time to react.

To mark the efforts of the relief workers, a restaurant volunteered to provide hot food for 200 of them despite having no electricity and little water.
