A student from a prestigious university in China who made false “secret filming” accusations against an innocent man has faced a public backlash over her actions.

Her baseless claims stemmed from an incident on a subway train in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province in southern China.

When she saw a middle-aged man squatting nearby and using his phone, the woman suspected he might be secretly filming her.

She then demanded the man show her his photo gallery and despite finding nothing, continued to warn him: “Be careful. Don’t secretly film others.”

The woman then went on to share a lengthy post on her social media platform which stated: “With such skilful moves and shameless behaviour, it feels like this creepy old man isn’t a first-time offender.”

When confronted online about the man’s innocence, she insisted: “If he truly didn’t take any photos, why did he not speak up for himself?”
