Mega hit Chinese film The Battle at Lake Changjin set for a sequel after all-time box office run
- Much of the sequel has already been filmed, and most of the cast is expected to return
- The Battle at Lake Changjin could become the highest-grossing mainland movie of all time

Producers behind The Battle at Lake Changjin, a nationalistic war movie in China that has been very successful at the box office, announced on Thursday that the film would be getting a sequel.
The Battle of Chosin Reservoir was a key turning point during the Korean war. An offensive, primarily driven by Chinese soldiers and supplies, forced the X Corps, of the US military, out of North Korea in the dead of winter.

The movie’s success was driven by widespread patriotic sentiment, including a line of propaganda that has become famous. It said: “We have to fight this war. Otherwise, our next generations will have to”.
The Battle at Lake Changjin, which is still showing in theatres, has made 5.39 billion yuan (US$842 million). Those box office numbers make it the third-highest-grossing Chinese movie of all time, after Wolf Warrior 2 and Hi, Mom.
