A man in China is demanding a government investigation after he found a used dishcloth in a takeaway hotpot he ordered for a meal at work with his colleagues last Wednesday.
The man, surnamed Ning, said he was shocked when he saw a large piece of dark cloth as he was eating a dish he ordered from chain restaurant Shao Hotpot in Chengdu, Sichuan province, in southwest China, he told news outlet Feidian Video.
Ning said they initially thought it was a large piece of beef tripe, a common ingredient in Sichuan hotpot.
“As we were enjoying it, I suddenly found a piece of beef tripe. I said, ‘Maybe we should cut it into smaller pieces’,” he recalled.
“Then we realised something was wrong. Two female colleagues began throwing up immediately,” he said.
