A viral news story about a five-year-old boy in northern China who already shows outstanding skill at catching sheep on his family’s farm has delighted mainland social media.
The unnamed boy from the Inner Mongolia autonomous region became a social media darling after a video of him expertly catching sheep was posted online, local media outlet Hntv reported.
The video filmed by his father showed the boy calmly approaching a flock of sheep and capturing one with his hands as it struggles but cannot escape his determined grasp.
The boy’s father said that since his son was a toddler, he had enjoyed learning farm work including scooping up cattle dung, as well as cooking and making milk tea.
“The kid catches sheep very fast. As long as he tries, he often does it better than many adults,” the father said.
“There are over 600 sheep on our farm, and he can catch a quarter of them.”
