‘Slap each other in class’: teacher in China accused of ‘torturing’ students physically and mentally and forcing them to participate in abuse for years
- New claims of abuse hit school 3 years after an alleged rape of underage student by teacher
- Under Chinese law, teachers who use corporal punishment can face sanctions, dismissal and in severe cases criminal prosecution

A private school in China has been hit by accusations a teacher abused students and forced them to participate in slapping, spitting and humiliating each other in an incendiary social media post by a parent, reported Jimu News.
The post on July 18 by a person who said they were the parent of a Primary Three student at the Ningbo Huamao Foreign Language School in Zhejiang province, eastern China, alleged their child had been subjected to severe corporal punishment, abuse, personal insults, and psychological manipulation since the child was in Primary Two.
“Punishments ranged from lighter ones such as kneeling or hitting palms to severe ones like having students take turns slapping each other, spitting on each other, being forced to drink water from a fish tank, being dragged to the toilet and threatened with being made to eat faeces while the entire class watched,” the post claimed.
“In the winter, she [the teacher] made the children take off their tops and stand for an entire class duration as a punishment.”
The online post also claimed that although the abusive teacher, surnamed Dai, had resigned after the abuse claims were raised, she had since been hired by another primary school, where she continued to “wreak havoc”.
The school declined a request for comment by the Post.
