A Chinese man who spent 2,000 yuan (US$280) playing a ring toss game and won a Maserati sports car worth 1.7 million yuan (US$235,000) has shocked mainland social media.

The massive win took place at a night market in Shangqiu, Henan province, northern China, where a game booth offering a Maserati as the top prize in ring toss challenge attracted many eager participants to try.

The game involves players throwing ring-shaped objects at a target, aiming to land them successfully to win the prize.
