A Chinese influencer known for her hysterical online rants aimed at “waking up” so-called love-brained adults stuck in toxic relationships has attracted a huge army of followers.
The influencer, known as Xiakespeare, a play on the name William Shakespeare, has amassed more than 3.5 million followers in just two weeks.
She launched her account on January 23.
Xiakespeare quickly went viral for her videos which feature her wearing a white lab coat and sporting a unique twin-tail hairstyle.
She plays the role of a psychological counsellor receiving “clients” who share their relationship difficulties.

In the videos, her clients are often emotionally charged, while she uses sharp language and her distinctive Minnan accent in a bid to shake them out of their “love-brained” state.
In a video posted on February 7, a woman complains that her boyfriend has not replied to her messages and is trying to make excuses for him.
“In a relationship, who suddenly stops replying to messages while passionately chatting? Is it because there’s no signal in his graveyard?” Xiakespeare tells her.
When another client says that Xiakespeare is “defaming” her “disappearing” boyfriend because he had told her the day before that he wanted to marry her, she responds.
“Who takes a whole day to shower? Is he practising a water-escape technique in front of you?
“He is just trying to force a break-up. I am better at reading this than a pregnancy test kit!” she adds.
To another client, a man who is kneeling and begging not to break up, she sharply says: “Stop crying like that. Is your lacrimal gland connected to your prostate? Kneeling will not work, not even having a burial will!”
Also, her lines often end with the catchphrase kao yao lei, which comes from the Minnan dialect and is commonly used to express frustration or vent complaints. This has become memorable among her viewers.
Xiakespeare’s sharp tone and distinctive personal style have quickly garnered her a large following.

She has amassed 3.51 million followers across all social media platforms in just 15 days.
However, while her videos reflect real-life problems involving emotional abuse and infidelity, many online viewers have expressed concern that they may reinforce gender stereotypes in relationships and fail to offer real solutions.
One online observer said: “Nowadays, influencers gain fame through quirky methods. They have distinct looks and are often supported by behind-the-scenes teams.”
“Forget whether she is an influencer or not, what she says is really funny. At least it made me laugh out loud!” said another.
