Dog lover holds traditional one-month, ‘full moon’ banquet for husky puppies, invites friends and family, gets official ‘morals’ warning
A dog lover who held a traditional one-month Chinese banquet for his pet dog’s puppies has been criticised by officials for “disrupting public order and morals”.
The man from northern China’s Hebei province, surnamed Ren, said he was bewildered by the criticism because he was only expressing his love for his dogs.
On April 16, Ren and his friend held a one-month banquet, also known as full-moon banquet in Chinese, for the seven puppies his pet husky dog gave birth to a month ago at his car accessories shop.
He invited over 100 guests and even asked his aunt and friends to stage some performances and heat up the party.
Ren said he spent just a few hundred yuan to make a large amount of food to share with the guests, and in return some people gave the dogs bones and sausages as gifts.
He said he considered the dogs his children, and held the full-moon banquet to wish them good fortune.
