A group of Chinese boy band fans who chased their idols through the cabin of an aircraft while ignoring safety warnings from the crew and disturbing other passengers have caused shock online.
The young female fans chased the band members onto a Hainan Airlines flight from Hangzhou, Zhejiang to Beijing on May 8, the media outlet Jimu News reported.
Video footage shows them swarming through the front of the economy class cabin, trying to get a good vantage point while holding their smartphones up, attempting to take photos of the band who were in business class.
It was reported that they did this both when the flight was preparing for take-off and during landing.

They ignored crew members who kept telling them to go back to their seats.
A passenger said that the fans were loud during the flight. They also blocked the passageway and held other passengers up from getting off the plane.
According to China’s Public Security Administration Punishments Law, people who disturb orders and threaten security on public transport could face 10-days detention and a 500-yuan (US$70) fine.
On mainland social media, people expressed strong disapproval of the fans’ behaviour.
“They are so pathetic,” one person said.
“They should be punished for threatening public security. It is dangerous to stand up while the flight is taking off and landing, let alone chasing stars,” said another.

It was not reported which boy band the fans were chasing, but some people said on social media that it was the seven-member Chinese group Teen in Times, also known as TNT.
Their fans are infamous for chasing them irrationally.
Previously, some fans reportedly chased the group’s car and crashed into it. Some also sneaked into the hotels where the band were staying and stalked them to their homes.
It is also not the first time TNT fans caused a stir on the flight.
In 2021, a group of female fans tried to invade the business class cabin of a domestic Air China flight to get closer to two members of the group.

It was a common practice among fans to illegally acquire the flight booking information of celebrities so they could approach them at airports.
TNT have not yet respond to the latest incident.
They published a statement in 2021 calling for fans to support them without disturbing other people or breaking the law.
Some fans of the band also criticised the in-flight behaviour online, denouncing the chasers as people who aim to profit from close-up footage of celebrities instead of being genuine fans.
