A video of a dog in southwestern China driving a four-wheeled mobility scooter has taken the internet by storm.
The talented canine, who can also skateboard, turn on lights, and even take out the rubbish, has left many people amazed.
Captured in Meishan, Sichuan province, the black dog was filmed standing on the scooter, paws on the steering wheel, barking as it cruised along the road.
The clip shows the vehicle moving steadily in a straight line while a pickup truck passes by.
A stunned onlooker exclaims: “I must be seeing things. A dog is driving!”

According to a local media outlet Flash News, a traffic police officer eventually stopped the animal.
The dog’s owner, a professional animal trainer surnamed Chen, said that the vehicle is a senior’s mobility scooter, modified with a power-off brake system.
His dog can start the vehicle by pressing a button and stop it by lifting its paw.
Chen accompanied the dog during the drive but let it take the wheel for a brief stretch on its own.
Chen was not fined by the police but he did receive a verbal warning.
A police officer told him: “Dogs are not allowed to drive on the road due to serious safety concerns. Training should only happen in a controlled, enclosed space.”

Chen said that his five-year-old Labrador, Wanzi, is well-known locally for its intelligence and gentle nature. The animal’s gender was not disclosed.
After a month of training, Wanzi can drive the scooter independently, a feat that fills Chen with pride.
Social media posts showcase Wanzi’s impressive skills, from expertly riding a skateboard to carrying a rubbish bag in its mouth, walking downstairs, and accurately tossing it into a bin.
The dog can also turn on lights, balance two cups filled with water while walking, and has been trained to rescue Chen when his limbs are bound with ropes.
Chen reportedly runs an animal training centre for dogs and cats and offers pet boarding services.
He emphasises his use of scientific training methods, adding that Wanzi especially enjoys skateboarding.
“Everything has a spirit. Humans and animals can live together harmoniously and happily,” said Chen.
However, Wanzi’s story has sparked controversy on mainland social media.

One online observer said: “No matter how smart the dog is, letting it drive is still a public safety hazard. Who will take responsibility if an accident happens?”
Another person said: “Perhaps Wanzi could be trained as a police dog and use its talents in the right place.”
