A young girl from central China earned widespread praise online after fearlessly confronting riding instructors over why they assigned her friends vicious horses.
Nine-year-old Langlang from Huangshi in Hubei province has been travelling the world with her parents since she was a baby.
While travelling in Egypt with her parents on March 4, she was taking a riding lesson with two friends at a local equestrian club.
Although the pair were beginners, the coaches assigned them two ill-tempered horses; one was reportedly known for throwing riders and was considered vicious.

As the only one of the three children who spoke English, and having been asked by her father to look after her friends, Langlang confronted three local coaches.
“The horses you assigned are really unsafe to ride,” she told them in English.
One coach shrugged and replied that falling was an inherent risk in horse riding.
Langlang pushed back, saying she had recorded evidence to show the horses were dangerous and warned that if her friends were injured, the club would face a US$2,000 compensation claim.
At one point, she jabbed a finger at the coaches in anger, but quickly lowered it after her mother, who was filming nearby, reminded her that the gesture was disrespectful.

When the coaches hesitated, she demanded they swap the horses if they were unwilling to take responsibility.
Speaking in a resolute tone, Langlang pressed her case until the coaches relented, agreed to change the horses and even allowed her to choose the replacements herself.
She also urged them not to use the two problematic horses again.
Her father, surnamed Zheng, a travel influencer who documents the family’s journeys on social media, told the mainland outlet Jimu News that Langlang had been travelling with him in a camper van since she was eight months old.

Zheng said that he sold the vehicle around 2020 and began taking his wife and daughter overseas.
Since then, they have visited 15 countries.
The family has been staying in Alexandria, northern Egypt, since last year, where Langlang studies horse riding and English every day.
Zheng and his wife also reportedly run a barbecue restaurant in Huangshi.
Zheng said he was proud that his daughter had the courage to stand up for her friends in a foreign country.
He added that in Egypt, politeness can sometimes be seen as weakness and urged Chinese tourists to speak up and call the police if treated unfairly.
Egypt, one of the world’s oldest civilisations, has long been a popular destination for Chinese travellers who are eligible for a visa on arrival.

According to the Egyptian Tourism Authority, the country welcomed 19 million inbound visitors in 2025, including 360,000 from China.
Langlang’s story has caused a buzz on mainland social media, with related videos attracting more than one million likes.
One netizen said: “She is so assertive, clear-minded and unwilling to be pushed around.”
While another wrote: “Her parents had raised her well. Years of travel had broadened her horizons and given her the confidence to handle difficulties on her own.”
