A Chinese PhD graduate invited his favourite eatery’s owners to his graduation ceremony via a delivery order, receiving enthusiastic response from his invitees.
Recently, an eatery owner in southern China’s Guangdong province posted a delivery order she received.
In the comment of the order, the customer, surnamed Xiong, invites her and her husband to take graduation photos with him.
He wrote: “I have been fed by you for seven years from bachelor to doctor. I’m graduating now and feel sad about leaving you.”

The eatery owner, Luo Na, said she was surprised and honoured to receive the invitation via the delivery order.
She said she quit school as a teenager and had not imagined being invited to a graduation ceremony.
Luo and her family had been running the Hakka cuisine diner for two decades close to the Southern Medical University. They are familiar with the inviter, who has been their regular customer.
“I know medical students all work very hard. They would not invite anyone to their big graduation day,” Luo said.
The inviter said he studied the Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine major at the same university for over a decade.
He and his classmates made their first delivery order at the eatery seven years ago in his fifth year at the university, and had been dining there since.

The eatery was their favourite in the neighbourhood, so they decided to invite the owners to their graduation ceremony, to remember their special bond.
Luo said she would accept the invitation, and bring her husband and two children, “for them to experience big brothers’ honourable graduation moments.”
She also prepared a bouquet and red packets to wish Xiong and his friends a bright future.
“You will be real doctors from now on. When you look out for others, remember also to take care of yourselves,” she told them.
“No matter how busy your work is, remember to eat on time,” her husband, surnamed Liao, said.
Luo said having run the eatery for two decades, the happiest thing was not making money, but being remembered by the customers.

On the front of her store, she pasted a banner that speaks the truth in her heart: “Run a warm little shop and meet people with similar tastes.”
“Owners of this eatery are truly bringing up China’s future doctors,” an online observer commented.
Another remarked on the diner’s speciality, stir-fried pork intestines with sour vegetables: “Their pork intestines are verified by medical doctors, must be trustworthy.”
A third said: “Such a heart-warming story. I also took graduation photos with my favourite eatery’s owner when I graduated.”
