Danish security police say 14 members of an extreme left-wing group were arrested in Copenhagen overnight for planning to carry out politically motivated vandalism. The Security and Intelligence Service says seven men and seven women ranging in age from 19 to 48 were targeting “police and other public institutions.” The agency did not give further details. They were not immediately charged. PET said on Wednesday the arrests show there are groups in Denmark that want to “commit organised vandalism and other forms of politically motivated crime.” Last year, five Danish men were charged with attempted acts of terrorism after they allegedly tried to burn down several police buildings, a bank and an embassy in Copenhagen. They are awaiting trial.
