Veteran BBC presenter Paul Gambaccini held on sex offences
Paul Gambaccini, a 40-year broadcasting veteran, held as part of Jimmy Savile inquiry
Veteran BBC television and radio presenter Paul Gambaccini has been arrested by British police on suspicion of sexual offences.
Scotland Yard has refused to name the 64-year-old, but Gambaccini's identity was confirmed by sources on Friday.
The DJ, one of Britain's best known broadcasters, is the 15th arrest under Operation Yewtree since it began a year ago. He was arrested under the "others" strand of the investigation, meaning the allegations are not directly linked to Savile.
Shortly after 6pm on Tuesday, Scotland Yard announced that a 64-year-old man had been bailed to a date in early January "pending further inquiries". Yesterday, a spokesman said: "We don't give a running commentary on investigations and we don't confirm names [of arrestees before charge]."
Gambaccini and his agent declined to comment.
