Disney has announced the return of Toy Story with plans for a fourth movie set to be released in 2017.
Walt Disney's Pixar studio plans to make Toy Story 4, to capitalise further on one of the top-grossing animated hits.
John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Disney Animation Studios and Pixar, will direct the film, returning to oversee the latest sequel to the 1995 picture he co-wrote. It is set for release in June 2017.
Toy Story 3, the 2010 instalment of the series featuring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in the lead roles, is the second-biggest animated feature, with worldwide ticket sales of US$1.06 billion, topped only by  Frozen, released by Disney last year.
Lasseter directed the first two Toy Story movies. Hanks and Allen will return, according to Imdb.com.
It comes as Disney revealed the latest of the Star Wars film franchise had finished shooting and would be called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Force Awakens was the first of three Star Wars installments Disney said it would make after it bought the production company Lucasfilm for US$4.05 billion in 2012.
The film, in which original Star Wars actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will reprise their original roles, will be set 30 years after 1983's Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
