Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter stabbed to death in ‘exorcism’ on Manhattan street

Actor Morgan Freeman is mourning the death of his granddaughter, who was stabbed to death on a Manhattan street by a man who reportedly shouted that he was trying to perform an exorcism to expel “devils” from her.

Edena Hines, a 33-year-old actress, died Sunday. Police responding to a 911 call at about 3am found Hines lying on the street with multiple stab wounds to the chest. She was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

A 30-year-old man was taken into police custody at the scene in front of Hines’ apartment on West 162nd Street.

The New York Post reported that the suspect was Hines’ boyfriend.

Freeman issued a statement saying: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.

“Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
