Chinese president...Trump? Jimmy Fallon jokes with Republican candidate about controversies

Donald Trump for president of China? That’s what could happen, chat show host Jimmy Fallon joked on Friday, if the famously outspoken Republican candidate continued to “dig yourself a hole”.

As the billionaire appeared on Friday’s Tonight Show, the comedian referred to the steady stream of controversies that Trump had created on the campaign trail by speaking his mind.

“What’s refreshing,” Fallon told him, “is, you’re off-the-cuff, you get yourself in a lot of trouble sometimes.

“I think you dig yourself a hole sometimes, a deep hole, and then instead of getting out of the hole, you just dig deeper. And if you keep digging, eventually you might come out in China and be the president of China.”

Trump, who has targeted China frequently in his recent weeks, caused an outcry even at the outset of his campaign with comments about Mexican immigrants.
