Shamed Australian politican blames alcohol for sleazy behaviour towards female public servant in Hong Kong bar - but fails to apologise
Jamie Briggs admits he ‘should have been more careful’ after the late-night incident at Stormies Bar in Lan Kwai Fong

An Australian politician who was forced to resign after he made inappropriate advances towards a female public servant at a Hong Kong bar has blamed it on work-related stress and alcohol abuse - but has still not apologised for what he did.
Jamie Briggs was made to step down from his role as minister for Cities and the Built Environment after the late-night incident at Stormies Bar in Lan Kwai Fong last month.
The young woman, revealed to be a staffer for the Australian Consulate-General in Hong Kong, reportedly phoned her colleagues in tears after Briggs praised her “piercing eyes” on the night of November 27.
She claims he then kissed her on the neck - but he has since insisted he just gave her a peck on the cheek.
She also allegedly complained to another colleague at the bar that Briggs was standing too close to her.

This week Briggs spoke further of his regret over his behaviour on the official overseas trip, saying he “should have been more disciplined”.
