Fourteen opposition figures were found guilty of subversion while two were acquitted over an election plot to topple the Hong Kong government, as the city’s biggest and longest-running national security trial reached a verdict on Thursday.
2. China hands rare death sentence to ex-banker who took US$151 million in bribes

A court in eastern China delivered a rare death sentence on Tuesday, after finding that a former senior banker accepted bribes worth more than 1.1 billion yuan (US$151 million) in his role with one of the country’s top four state asset managers.
3. Taiwan fines passenger from Hong Kong HK$48,430 for bringing in banned roast pork

An Indonesian passenger travelling from Hong Kong to Taiwan has been deported after being unable to pay a NT$200,000 (HK$48,430) fine for bringing in a lunchbox with roast pork, contravening import regulations, local media has reported. The traveller arrived in Taipei on April 30 with the lunchbox containing a combination of Cantonese-style roast meats, news outlets reported on Sunday.

Many obstacles remain before the C919 and Comac can climb to the same stratospheric success as rivals Airbus and Boeing. Airworthiness certification by foreign authorities and proving the plane’s profitability are the two major milestones yet to be reached, analysts said.

A German man currently in Thailand who looks like Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves – best known for his role as hitman John Wick – has become an overnight star in the country and a global hit online.
