Prince Harry brought someone special with him to Wednesday’s pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace with the royal family: his fiancée, Meghan Markle.

Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, typically hosts a holiday lunch for her relatives before setting off to spend Christmas at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

The couple, whose engagement was announced in November, was photographed upon arriving at the palace. Markle, 36, rode on the passenger side while Harry, 33, was behind the wheel.

It is expected that Markle will spend the holiday at Sandringham, where the royal family traditionally exchanges presents on Christmas Eve and attends church on Christmas Day at St Mary Magdalene Church.

The service is often followed by a gala lunch and may include a stroll through the woods.

Markle and Harry will say “I do” in a ceremony to take place on May 19 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
