Tens of thousands of Danes joined Crown Prince Frederik in a Royal Run on Sunday, a popular race launched by the sport-loving heir to the throne.
The event was staged in different areas. Frederik first ran in Sonderborg near the German-Danish border, cheered on by the state premier of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Guenther.
“It's a fantastic day,” Frederik said. He later ran in Odense, then ran a lap of honour with Olympic and Paralympic athletes before running the 10km (6.2-mile) course in Copenhagen in the evening.
Last year's Royal Run was cancelled, and another run was postponed in May.
However, nearly 79,000 people registered to join the runs in Sonderborg, Aalborg, Odense, Copenhagen and on the island of Bornholm.
The organisers said nearly a third of those joining the event were taking part in their first fun run.
