Ukraine war: pro-Russian separatists say they captured Kreminna; UN says 5 million have fled Ukraine

Separatists from the self-declared Luhansk People’s Republic have said they have seized the city of Kreminna.
Kreminna in Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine is “completely” under the control of the units of the “People’s Republic” the Luhansk People’s Militia announced on Telegram late on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian governor of the Luhansk region, Serhiy Haidai, reported on Monday that Ukrainian forces had lost control of Kreminna, located north of Severodonetsk and northwest of the city of Luhansk.
About 4,000 of Kreminna’s 18,000 inhabitants before the war are said to be still holding out.
According to the latest analysis by the US war research institute ISW, the advance to Kreminna was the only Russian ground offensive within 24 hours that made “significant progress.”
Reports of the pro-Russian separatists gaining control of the city cannot be independently verified.
