Ukraine war: Kyiv region hit by Iran-made ‘kamikaze drones’
- Attack on Kyiv area follows wave of deadly missile strikes on Ukrainian cities earlier this week
- Ukraine has reported a spate of Russian attacks with Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones

Ukraine’s capital region was struck by Iranian-made kamikaze drones early Thursday morning, sending rescuers rushing to the scene as residents awoke to air raid sirens for the fourth morning in a row following Russia’s massive, deadly assault across the country on Monday.
Deputy head of the presidential office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on Telegram that “critical infrastructure facilities” in the Kyiv area were hit, without offering any details on which ones.
In the southern city of Mykolayiv, overnight shelling destroyed a five-storey residential building as fighting continued along Ukraine’s southern front.
Mykolayiv mayor Oleksandr Sienkovych said the building’s top two floors were completely destroyed in a single strike.
Regional governor Vitali Kim said an 11-year-old boy was rescued from under the rubble, where he had spent six hours, and rescuers on Thursday morning were searching for seven more people.
