Teenage boy and man, 54, arrested on suspicion of arson after fire at London restaurant

Five people were injured in the incident at Indian Aroma in Ilford. Two of them remain in life-threatening condition, police said

A 15-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at a restaurant in London that left five people injured.

Emergency services were called to Indian Aroma in Ilford, at about 9pm on Friday.

Five people, three women and two men, were injured in the incident.

Two of them, a man and a woman, remain in life-threatening condition, London’s Metropolitan Police said.

It is also believed there are two further victims who left the scene before officers arrived, police said.

Efforts to identify the victims are continuing.
