Iran begins construction on nuclear power plant, state media reports

  • The new 300-megawatt plant, known as Karoon, will take eight years to build and cost around US$2 billion, state media reported
  • The announcement comes amid tensions with the US over sanctions imposed after Washington pulled out of Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers
