Russia has imposed an entry ban on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in response to Western sanctions issued due to the war in Ukraine.

The foreign ministry accused London of “unprecedented hostile actions” in particular referring to sanctions on senior Russian officials, and “pumping the Kyiv regime with lethal weapons”.

London was behind an “information campaign” aimed at isolating Russia internationally and damaging it economically, the ministry said.

The latest Western sanctions began soon before Russia launched its war on Ukraine more than seven weeks ago.

Moscow’s new entry blacklist consists of 13 people, including Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, and Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.

Russia had previously imposed entry bans on US President Joe Biden as well as politicians from the European Union, Australia and New Zealand.

The US has also personally sanctioned Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as well as other members of the government.
